Brett D. Schandelson wins MTACDL Lawyer of the Year award!

Brett D. Schandelson wins MTACDL Lawyer of the Year award!

We are proud to announce that Brett D. Schandelson has won the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys 2017 Lawyer of the Year award!  Each year MTACDL gives the Charles F. “Timer” Moses Lawyer of the Year award to the lawyer or lawyers that achieve significant results in handling criminal defense cases.

This year MTACDL has chosen to honor Brett for his pro bono representation and exoneration of Montana Innocence Project Client Richard Raugust.  After representing Richard for four years, donating an estimated 400 hours of legal work in the process, Richard was finally and fully exonerated in September 2016.

The award came as a complete shock to Brett, although in hindsight he thought it suspicious he was told to bring a tie.  Brett is incredibly honored to be recognized by MTACDL and is proud to be in the fine company of past award winners.

Also honored this year for his work with the Montana Innocence Project was Colin M. Stephens, whose client Cody Marble faced a multi-year and complicated legal battle as well.  Cody was also exonerated in 2016.
